Should we send thank you cards?
Yes, sending a handwritten thank you card or letter to your
wedding guests and others involved in your wedding is a gracious
gesture, and sure to be appreciated by the recipient.
So they're to hand when you need them, it's a good idea to
order thank you cards, or paper, and envelopes, along with
the rest of your wedding stationery.
To buy - from a store or online - or to make thank-you stationery
early. A helpful tip that will make writing your thank you
notes a lot easier and quicker is to make a copy of your wedding
guest list - making sure that the mailing address of the invitee(s)
is noted next to their name - and keep it in a safe place.
Then when a wedding gift is received and opened take out
the list and note the present given next to the givers name
and address.
If you prefer you can of course have this information on
a computer. Other good suggestions are to just write a few
notes at a time.
Plus when a thank you note is written and the envelope is
sealed and again when it's mailed to put a check mark on the
list by the recipients name. And don't forget that though
typically fairly short a wedding gift thank you note should
include:
1. A few words thanking your guest(s) for attending the wedding
- if appropriate.
2. The wedding gift by name.
3. How much the gift was appreciated.
4. If possible how or when the gift is likely to be used.
Remember too that though a thank-you note doesn't necessarily
have to be sent as soon as a gift is opened, it should be
mailed soon after the wedding, on return from your honeymoon
- or as soon as is reasonably possible.
